Approved motorcycles for Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAM Scheme)Revised 31 August 2009On 1 July 2009, the Learner Approved Motorcycle (LAM) Scheme for learner riders and those holding an RE licence commenced in Queensland. The LAM Scheme allows riders who hold an RE class licence to ride moderately powered motorcycles with an engine capacity up to 660 millilitres (mL) and which do not exceed a power to weight ratio of 150 kilowatts per tonne (Kw/t) and are shown on this list. The following list, which will be adjusted as new models are approved, displays details of all motorcycles that can be ridden by the holder of an RE licence (including learners). NOTE
Individually Constructed Motorcycles (custom made) will not be considered for inclusion within the LAM Scheme. Motorcycles produced prior to 1960 and do not exceed 660mL will be included within the scheme. Eligible motorcycles in the category 0mL - 250mLAll models, 0mL to 250mL, including mopeds, are eligible for use on an RE licence and are included within the LAM scheme. Individual makes and models are not listed. The following 0mL to 250mL motorcycles, are excluded from the LAM scheme. Suzuki RGV250 Conditionally registered motorcycles which have not been approved under Australian Design Rules certification are also excluded. Eligible motorcycles in the category 251mL - 660mL
